Could your site benefit from an extra set of eyes?

Happy Monday everyone! We’re back with Part 8 of our Tips of the Week series, where each week we explore one of your commonly asked questions.
A question we hear often is: what’s the role of a static guard, and when would you use one? Static guards are useful in all sorts of situations, from events and busy retail seasons to overnight cover and high-traffic areas where extra oversight makes a difference. They can also carry out lockups, random checks, and provide a visible presence that helps deter unwanted behaviour. In some cases, they’re also the first friendly face visitors see, helping with directions or check-ins while maintaining site security.
Mobile patrols play a different but equally important role. They’re especially handy for weekends or long closures, when no one else is on site. Regular checks mean you know your property is still being looked after, even from a distance. Patrols can also be set at random times, which makes it harder for anyone with bad intentions to predict when a guard might show up.
Guards can also work alongside monitoring systems. If an alarm activates, having an officer on the ground means someone can check the site straight away, secure access points, and manage the situation until everything is safe again. Even in cases where an intruder leaves quickly, the guard ensures nothing has been damaged or left vulnerable.
What’s often overlooked is how much value comes simply from their presence. A visible officer on site is often enough to prevent issues before they even begin.
As we start to wrap up this series, we’re heading back to where it all began, protecting your home while you’re away. The next two weeks will focus on simple home security reminders, before we close out this 10-week series of answering your most common questions.
