Morning everyone. It’s another chilly Monday, and a good time to kick off the first of our weekly tips.
One thing we get asked a lot is what to do when you’re going away. So, this week’s tip is all about making your home still feel “lived in” while you’re not there. If you’ve got a friend or family member heading away soon, feel free to pass this on.
When a house looks obviously empty, it can become a target. But a few small actions can make a big difference. Ask a friend or neighbour to check in every now and then. Even just moving the curtains occasionally helps making it less of a target.
If your bins stay out for days or the mail starts piling up, it’s a pretty clear sign no one’s home. That’s why it’s worth having someone help with those small things. You can also switch up which lights you leave on at night, so it looks like someone is coming and going.
None of these take long, but together they can help your place feel looked after while you’re away.
Follow us each week for more practical tips to help protect what matters most. If you have a friend who’s going away soon, tag them in the comments or share this post so they’re one step ahead.
Next week we’ll be following on from this with Part 2, focusing on security cameras and making sure your system’s ready before you leave.
